During law school Mr. Stark clerked for the Secretary of the Air Force General Counsel. Following graduation he practiced law in Durham with Newsom Graham, et al.  Mr. Stark started his own practice in 1982 and founded the firm Harlow & Stark in 1985 that grew to as many as 12 attorneys. In 1992, Mr. Stark reorganized as the Law Offices of Thomas H. Stark and in 2003 he renamed the practice Stark Law Group.  Mr. Stark remains an active member of the legal community and volunteers his time to local and national organizations.

Mr. Stark is also an Eagle Scout and served as the local District Chair for the Boy Scouts of America, as well as chairing the Open Spaces and Trails Commission.  He is currently member of the North Carolina United Methodist Camp and Retreat Ministries Board, has served on the Board of Institutions for the North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church, and also served as Chairman of the Board for Duke Memorial United Methodist Church.

M. Kathleen Fowler

Legal Assistant

Kathy has 21 years of experience as a legal assistant, working in the practice areas of international law, medical malpractice, personal injury, wrongful death, workers’ compensation, employment law, insurance defense, construction law, white collar crime, and civil litigation.  Kathy also serves as the Recording Secretary for Ivy Creek Townhomes Subdivision and volunteers at the Triangle Labrador Retriever Rescue of North Carolina.

Edward McLaurin

Prior to retirement from the active practice of law, Mr. McLaurin practiced primarily in the areas of real estate and general litigation. At Stark Law Group he provides support to the entire team in these areas under the supervision of Thomas Stark and Seth Neyhart.

Laura E. Windley

Laura is a third year law student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and works part-time at the Stark Law Group.  She is currently serving as Chair of the UNC School of Law Honor Court and is active as a member of the Holderness Moot Court Environmental Negotiation Team, as a Dean’s Fellow, and as a member of the Carolina Intellectual Property Association.  Laura is also on the Board of Directors for the Triangle Swing Dance Society.
